Annual Science Fiesta 2024
The Annual Science Fiesta 2024, organized by the Indian Science Forum, successfully took place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the National University of Science & Technology, Al Hail Campus, Oman. The event brought together students, educators, and science enthusiasts to celebrate outstanding achievements in science and technology.
During the inaugural ceremony, the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science & Technology Achievement Award was presented, followed by prize distributions honoring the Sastra Pratibhas and winners of various inter-school competitions. The highlight of the day was the Keynote Address by Dr. Muralee Thummarukudy, Director of the G20 Global Land Initiative Coordination Office (UNCCD) in Geneva, who spoke on the theme of environmental stewardship.
Adding further insights on environmental advocacy, Ms. Rumaitha Al Busaidi, Vice President of the Environment Society of Oman, served as the Guest of Honour and addressed the audience. The event concluded with vibrant cultural performances, which provided a festive and engaging atmosphere.
Overall, the Annual Science Fiesta 2024 served as a significant platform to acknowledge scientific excellence, promote environmental awareness, and inspire budding innovators and future leaders in Oman’s scientific community.
