ISF Igniter 2022

Muscat – With an aim to cultivate an environment conducive to scientific learning, Indian Social Club (ISC) officially launched Indian Science Forum (ISF) on Thursday.

The group has been specifically formed to organise science related programmes for children and to identify, encourage and inspire youth having aptitude in science and technology to pursue a career in science.

Additionally, it aims to guide the younger generation and equip them to face new challenges in their studies as well as their day-to-day lives.

ISF’s first event will be an online quiz from October 21 for all students of Indian schools in Oman. Each team will consist of two students, both from the same school. Called ISF Igniter 2022, the event will be conducted over a span of three days by Hala Jamal, a popular quizmaster of Oman

Introducing ISF Igniter 2022, Dr J Retnakumar, coordinator of the forum, said, “In the age of science and technology, it is time to focus on our future on a scientific level. This knowledge hunt gives an opportunity for the youth to explore the world of science, technology and innovation. ISF Igniter 2022 will be a flagship event organised and hosted by ISC where we celebrate the knowledge of science of the past, present and future.”

Babu Rajendran, honorary general secretary of ISC, said, “Various competitions related to science, including debates, digital symposia, on-the-spot presentations and science skits are planned as part of the science fiesta in the coming sessions.”

The event will be open to participation for students from Grade 5 to 12 currently enrolled in Indian schools in Oman.

Suresh Akkandathil and Latha Sreejith are the administrative coordinator and co-coordinator respectively of ISF.
